The Stiftung der Deutschen Burgenvereinigung (Foundation of the German Castles Association) annually awards the "Great Monument Award of the German Castles Association" for special services to the preservation of our European cultural heritage, in particular the historic military and residential buildings, gardens and parks.
It consults i. a. the German Castles Association's Conservation Advisory Committee's and Scientific Advisory Commitee's expert advice and uses the services of the European Castles Institute, the scientific institution of the DBV. The Foundation pays tribute first and foremost to the European heritage; in recent years, award winners have been awarded for whom the preservation of our cultural heritage is not only a German, but an overarching European task: 2015 Elisabeth and Ulrich von Küster for the exemplary restoration of Schloss Lomnitz / Palac Lomnica in Silesia and 2016 Dr. Hans-Heinrich von Srbik for special services to the preservation of our cultural heritage beyond the borders of Germany. Award winners 2018 are Count Marcus and Countess Annabelle von Oeynhausen-Sierstopff; they receive the award for the preservation, revitalization and enhancement of the extensive historical spa and park facilities in Bad Driburg, one of the anchor gardens in the European Garden Network. The award will be given on 21 April in the Town Hall of the Peace of Westphalia in Münster.
