German minority communities in Central and Eastern Europe have a rich tradition of story-telling. Although this belongs as part of the general German story-telling culture, many people know nothing about it. Since 2017 the Culture Forum searchs for evidence of this and organises Story telling and writing workshops with children, young people and adults (teachers, pre-school workers, educators). Participants took a close look at the themes occurring in ancient sagas and traditional folk tales, with the aim of creating new stories, writing them down and presenting them.
The Culture Forum found cooperation partners for this project in Esseg/Osijek and Zagreb (Croatia), Sombor (Serbia), Fünfkirchen/Pécs (Hungary), Hermannstadt/Sibiu and Klausenburg/Cluj (Romania), Kischinau/Chișinău (Republic of Moldova), Laibach/Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Oppeln/Opole (Poland).
