World Heritage and Digitisation

Europe: Heritage Lived Deutsche UNESCO-Kommission

Digitisation has fundamentally changed the world in recent decades. It affects almost all areas of our lives. This also creates new opportunities and challenges for World Heritage sites.

What significance do digitisation and digital media have for visiting, managing, communicating and valorising our World Heritage sites? Which trends and media formats can make sense for World Heritage sites? What challenges are waiting for us? What are good practices are there that we can learn from? These are the questions we will address at our 2018 Annual Meeting.

The symposium of the German World Heritage Sites Association and the German Commission for UNESCO will provide an opportunity to profit both from the specialist knowledge of the speakers and from the know-how of as many participants as possible. There will also be enough time devoted to collegial exchange and discussion of concrete topics and questions in working groups.
